SERC Engineer Richard Engel and Yurok Tribe Engineer Dustin Jolley measure stream flow on Pine Creek.
The Tribe secured a separate DOE grant to investigate the feasibility of creating a Yurok Tribal electric utility company. Their original project consultant determined that it was not economically feasible to create a conventional utility. SERC was asked to assist the Tribe in exploring other ways to provide energy services on the Reservation. We developed a detailed report on the logistics and economics of providing services such as home weatherization and assistance in acquiring and maintaining renewable energy systems for villages and individual homes.
