Yurok Tribe Energy Efficiency Efforts

In addition to installing a solar electric system on the roof of the Weitchpec Tribal Office, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds the Tribe received were used to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of both the Weitchpec and Klamath Tribal Offices. Energy efficiency measures at these locations include improvements to the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; installation of high-efficiency fans; and installation of lighting occupancy sensors. These improvements will provide better comfort and function for building occupants and will save the Tribe money on energy bills for many years to come.

An infrared image of the Klamath Office
shows where heat is lost from the
building. Yellow color indicates
greater heat loss.

Occupancy sensors and
programmable thermostats were installed.
